Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Upgrade components

If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

If you want to remove a glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item level upgrade where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.
